What about the hygiene in the facility?
The food storage and the kitchen are separated from the visitors’ area and inaccessible for cats. Vice versa, the cats satisfy their needs in their backstage area which is inaccessible for humans. This area including the litterboxes are cleaned twice per day. The entire café is equipped with a ventilation system, ensuring hygiene and delicious food :-)
Can I bring children
to the cat café?
Of course! The only additional rule for kids: running is not allowed. Parents vouch that their children disinfect their hands and follow the rules of behaviour.
What happens
on closing days?
At day time, our cats are never left alone.
When the cat café is closed, they stay in the café and still receive the attention (food and affection) they deserve.
Are there special regulations for a cat café?
We have been working very closely with the authorities for animal safety and food hygiene, as well as the Düsseldorf animal shelter and other experts and organisations. We have respected and exceeded all of their requirements, and we are constantly checked on these special regulations.

What is a cat café?

A cat café is a café that offers the pleasure of cats’ presence. Guests of Café Neko can enjoy their fresh food and drinks, spend quality time with friends, while being surrounded by cats that they can pet and play with.
The Neko-staff takes care of feeding, nursing, and medical treatments, but the cats seek
to be petted by visitors too.
Where are the cats from?

All cats have a better life at Café Neko than they did before. You can get to know them
in the Cats section.
In cooperation with the Düsseldorf animal shelter, we made sure our cats don’t only enjoy life with other cats, but also with human company. The cats live in the café, but they always have the possibility to go “backstage” for as long as they like.
How do I behave as visitor at Café Neko?
Please disinfect your hands upon entry (dispenser next to the door). Come as you are, and behave according to the rule board below.
Even the sweetest cat sometimes needs a break, so please understand that physical contact with the felines cannot be guaranteed. Contributing to the cats’ well-being is very simple: Just keep in mind that Cafe Neko is a place for cats, you are a welcome guest in their environment.
